Presque Isle Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), located in Presque Isle, Maine, provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older of all genders who are struggling with opioid use disorder. MAT combines prescription medication with a counseling component to give patients the best chance at long-term recovery. Depending on their specific needs, patients at Presque Isle CTC participate in individual and group counseling and are prescribed either buprenorphine or methadone. Decades of research from medical professionals shows that both medications are safe and effective in easing the distress of opioid cravings and reducing the often painful symptoms of withdrawal. The use of those medications complements evidence-based therapies that can help patients manage their symptoms and better understand their diagnosis and the hurdles they face on the road to recovery. Each patient’s personalized treatment plan includes individual and group therapy sessions with certified alcohol and drug counselors.
