Clinical duties involve collecting medical histories, monitoring vital signs, explaining treatments, preparing patients for exams, assisting with lab samples, performing EKGs, administering medications as directed, and documenting all activities. Administrative tasks include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, handling check-outs, managing billing tasks like copays, and coordinating referrals and admissions.
Candidates must possess Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification prior to starting, along with a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience requirements vary by level, ranging from no experience required (Level I) up to 3 years of clinical experience for Level III, though an Associate degree in Medical Assisting grants 1 year of experience credit.
