The Subspecialty Surgical PA Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking to add a full-time board-certified Physician Assistant to join its surgical APP team. The Surgical APP Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties including but not limited to Urology and Gyn-Oncology. Responsibilities currently include OR first assist coverage as well as rounding on surgical inpatients, perform consults, admissions, and discharges.
OR First Assisting- Surgical PA Services first assist in the OR
In-house shift to include management of surgical floor patients. Specialties covered include, but are not limited to, Urology and Gyn-Oncology.
Perform history and physicals for any consults or admissions from the emergency department or inpatient floors for the surgery department
Confer with attending physician, nursing staff, and other advanced practice providers in plan of care to ensure optimal quality patient care
Night Coverage – On call from home. Night coverage responsibilities include first assisting emergent OR cases, admissions and consults for general surgery.
Floor Procedures- Surgical PA’s are responsible for floor procedures including but not limited to NG tube insertion and removal, wound vac and dressings changes, bedside I&D.
This position is for full-time days, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (4 day work week), with required holiday coverage, weekend and call obligation.
$125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually; commensurate or relative to experience
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program and hold current NCCPA certification or licensure, along with required BLS and ACLS certifications. Current New York State Department of Education licensure is mandatory, and new graduates will be considered.
