About the role

The MRI Technologist will perform MRI exams to produce diagnostic-quality images, verifying orders, collecting history, and ensuring patient safety through rigorous screening and protocol adherence. Responsibilities also include preparing and administering contrast, monitoring patients during exams, reviewing images for acceptability, and managing associated documentation and operational support tasks.

Job Summary

The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region One includes Kennestone Hospital, North Fulton Hospital, and Windy Hill.

As an MRI Technologist for Region One, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve.

Required Qualifications

  • Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting
  • Certifications
  • ARRT-R (Radiography)
  • ARRT-MR (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI exams and produce diagnostic-quality images per established protocols.
  • Verify orders, collect relevant clinical history, complete MRI safety screening, and assess contraindications.
  • Confirm patient identity per policy; ensure accurate documentation, labeling, and required markers.
  • Prepare patients for exams; explain procedures using AIDET and maintain privacy, comfort, and dignity.
  • Apply MRI safety practices at all times (magnet safety, access control, hearing protection, safety devices).

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited Radiologic Technology program, along with a minimum of two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting. Required certifications include ARRT-R, ARRT-MR, and American Heart Association BLS.
