The Occupational Therapist will perform patient care according to best practice guidelines, completing evaluations and reassessments based on individualized plans of care. This role requires effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to promote quality patient care and meet productivity deadlines.

Description Talking Tadpoles is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a positive & collaborative work environment and team. The Occupational Therapist position reports to the Location Lead unless otherwise directed.

Requirements

Perform patient care and related activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice guidelines, while following an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to clinical guidelines Completes patient evaluations and reassessments in accordance with department guidelines Communicates effectively with patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care Ability to meet productivity and documentation deadlines Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in spoken and written English, including clinical documentation, patient education, and collaboration with team members Ability to use computers, tablets, and electronic health record systems for documentation, scheduling, and communication. Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ethical conduct, and confidentiality at all time Ability to work effectively with children who may exhibit behavioral, emotional, or sensory regulation challenges Performs patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities, demonstrating basic clinical competencies Provides instruction/education to patients and families/caregivers with accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the continuity of care Assesses patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teaching Maintains a current awareness and participates in office quality activities Have a working knowledge about Sensory Integration, Visual Training, Sensory Feeding Therapy, Handwriting, Fine Motor, Reflexes, Therapeutic Listening Qualifications Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic guidelines within established timelines Participates in staff development and attends health, safety and training in-services and other obligatory activities Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations in all interactions Ability to adhere to safety protocols and infection-control procedures Ability to assist patients with transfers, positioning, or mobility as appropriate Performs other essential functions as needed, including minimal supervision once trained COTA supervision as required by the Practice Additional Job Requirements: Ability to arrive to assigned locations on time and maintain regular, reliable attendance. Ability to work scheduled hours Meticulous attention to detail over the course of the workday Ability to sustain physical and mental activity throughout a scheduled workday Ability to remain calm and professional in emotionally charged or high-stimulation environments Ability to lift and carry up to 30–40 pounds occasionally Ability to maintain prolonged standing or sitting Ability to maintain required licensure, certifications, and eligibility to work in the United States throughout employment Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and reach throughout the workday Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and current Texas license to practice as an Occupational Therapist Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality Two years pediatric experience preferred.
