Job Summary

A psychiatrist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental, addictive and emotional disorders such as schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance-related disorders, sexual disorders, gender dysphoria and adjustment disorders. The psychiatrist is able to understand the biological, psychological and social components of illness and, therefore, is uniquely prepared to treat the whole person. The main form of treatment used by a psychiatrist is psychopharmacology. A psychiatrist is qualified to order diagnostic laboratory tests and to prescribe medications, evaluate and treat psychological and interpersonal problems and to intervene with families who are coping with stress, crises and other problems in living.

Job Duties

  • Adult Outpatient Psychiatrist - Hybrid (minimum of 3 days/week onsite - 2 days/week work-from-home)
  • Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and possess a valid Medical Doctor license for the State of Pennsylvania. Essential skills include patient care, procedural skills, professional etiquette, and systems-based practice.
