About the role

The Hospice Aide is responsible for providing direct patient care to hospice patients at the Hospice House, which includes performing personal care needs such as feeding, dressing, bathing, and changing linens according to the care plan. This role also requires documenting observations and care performed, as well as safely meeting the patient's safety needs and recording vital signs.

Founded in 1979, we are a local, independent nonprofit that has provided thousands of patients and their families with physical, emotional, and spiritual support throughout the journey from a life-threatening diagnosis through death and bereavement.

We are currently seeking a Hospice Aide who will be responsible for providing direct patient care to hospice patients at our Hospice House.

Schedule

Per diem; 8

30am - 5:00pm; 4 shifts per month, hours are flexible

Location

San Mateo County: **must have hha license**

Mission Hospice & Home Care follows all CDPH vaccine requirements for healthcare personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Performing personal care needs to hospice patients according to care plan or Supervisor, including feeding, dressing, baths, toileting, back rubs, personal hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen, laundry, etc.
  • Documenting observations and care performed.
  • Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2)
  • Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as appropriate.

Education/Experience

  • Completion of an approved Home Health Aide (HHA) training program. HOME CARE AIDE (HCA) CERTIFICATION IS NOT ACCEPTED.
  • Experience in hospice or home health preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current certification to practice as a Home Health Aide in the State of California.
  • Current California Driver’s License and automobile insurance that meets State of California requirements, if driving a car.

Pay Range

$26.30 - $31.00 hourly

Requirements

Candidates must have completed an approved Home Health Aide (HHA) training program and possess current certification to practice as an HHA in the State of California; Home Care Aide (HCA) certification is not accepted. Experience in hospice or home health is preferred, and a current California Driver’s License with required automobile insurance is necessary if driving a car.
