About the Hospital We are committed to practicing high quality, progressive, individualized medical care for our patients. We provide you with the tools to help your patients through industry-leading medical and diagnostic capabilities. Meisels Animal Hospital, a long-standing pillar of the Elmwood Park community, is a fully renovated, 4,000 square foot facility located a short drive from NYC! The veterinarians and staff at Meisels Animal Hospital have provided the best quality care to patients in the Elmwood Park area since its founding in 1946. Currently a two-veterinarian practice with a highly skilled and stable staff, Meisels has an immediate need for an additional veterinarian, due to the planned retirement of our current Medical Director in late 2022. At Meisels Animal Hospital, it’s not just about providing excellent veterinary care; it’s about giving back to the community that has given so much to us! Meisels Animal Hospital offers a unique blend of state-of-the-art equipment and services, but with a “home-like” feel that is appreciated by clients and staff alike. Our staff works amazingly well together, and we enjoy each other's company while at work. Veterinary medicine is stressful, and we take our jobs seriously, but we try to have fun every day. Sense of humor, a patient-centered approach and excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems Treat and dress wounds Perform surgery on animals Test for and vaccinate against diseases Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments Prescribe medication Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal Strong fondness and understanding of animals Good communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of animal behavior Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Requirements
