This role involves functioning as a clinician, educator, and resource for patients, assisting physicians with office procedures, and triaging incoming patients to ensure compliance with admission criteria. Responsibilities also include developing care standards, answering patient questions, coordinating patient care, and handling preauthorizations with insurance companies.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Medical Assistant program and hold current CME certification along with AAMA or NCCT certification, plus mandatory reporter certification. Previous clinical experience in a medical office and computer data entry experience are preferred, alongside current CPR certification.
Function as a clinician, educator and resource for patients within their specialty of care and assist physicians with office procedures. Triage incoming patients ensuring compliance with established admission/acceptance criteria. Direct appointments and referrals as determined by the current criteria. Develop, implement and evaluate the standards of practice and care for the patient population. Answer questions and provide teaching to patients and family members. Responsible for the development and ongoing coordination of care for patients. Act as a consultant both within the institution and to outside agencies or groups. Conduct or facilitate implementation of research studies and translate research findings into nursing practice. Preauthorize care/procedures with insurance companies.
Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA or NCCT certification. Mandatory Reporter certification Meets educational/competency requirements per policy. Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred. Computer data entry experience. CPR certification. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures Able to write, read, comprehend and speak fluent English. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
