The primary responsibility is providing expert vascular access services, including bedside insertion of PICCs, midlines, extended dwell catheters, peripheral IV catheters, and establishing access via intravascular ports. This role also involves the examination, assessment, and evaluation of patients with existing vascular access devices.
Candidates must possess a current RN license in the state of employment along with current ACLS and BCLS certifications, and have completed a vascular access competency skills checklist. Preferred qualifications include a minimum of two years of critical care nursing experience and one year of vascular access experience including PICC insertion.
Job Description: PICC RN/ Vascular Access Specialist
Position Reports To: Regional Manager/ Clinical Liaison
The job of PICC RN/ Vascular Access Specialist was established for the purpose/s of providing expert
vascular access services to the patients of our clients. Working within the guidelines set forth by the state
in which these employees are licensed and also working within the guidelines set forth by the Company,
the PICC RN/ Vascular Access Specialist will maintain a high level of professionalism and skill.

This job operates in a wide variety of environments ranging through all types of healthcare facilities.
Driving from client facility to client facility may account for a large part of the usual workday. This
role routinely uses portable ultrasound equipment, medical supplies, mobile phones, and computers.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. This is generally a physical role entailing driving,
standing bending over and lifting objects up to 20 pounds. This would require the ability to lift
equipment, assist in the repositioning of patients, stand for procedures.
Based on employment status and region, the employee’s shifts may range from 12 to 24 hours on call.
Expectations for number of shifts per payroll period differ as to job status as well. Shift expectations
may be from one to three shifts per week.
Required Education and Experience
RN licensure is required for all employees of this type. A minimum to two years nursing experience
in a critical care area is also preferred. One year of vascular access experience including the insertion
of PICCs is preferred. Technical experience with computers and mobile phones is preferred as well.
