The Hospice After Hours and On-Call RN provides compassionate care to hospice patients during non-business hours, ensuring continuity of care by responding to urgent medical needs and managing symptoms. This role involves coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to provide support and comfort to patients in their final stages of life.
Candidates must have a current Washington State RN license and at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice or palliative care. Additional requirements include reliable transportation, availability for on-call shifts, and proficiency in electronic medical records.

The Hospice After Hours and On-Call Registered Nurse (AHOC RN), provides compassionate, patient-centered care during non-business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This role ensures continuity of care for hospice patients by responding to urgent medical needs, managing symptoms, providing support, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team, and ensuring the highest level of comfort for patients in their final stages of life. This role requires excellent clinical skills, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently
1. Current and unrestricted Washington State license as Registered Nurse. 2. At least two years of post-education nursing experience, preferably with one year in a hospice, palliative care, or oncology setting. 3. Reliable transportation and the ability to independently travel within Tri-Cities Chaplaincy’s service area to deliver patient and family care in homes, facilities, and community settings. 4. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and remain calm under pressure in urgent situations. 5. Must be available evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of the on-call nursing staff. 6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. 7. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Intermediate computer skills. 8. This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen which includes cannabis testing in Washington State. 9. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Safety (BLS) 10. Washington State Food Worker Card issued by the Department of Health 11. 4 holiday shifts per year, one backup shift per month
1. Prior experience in Hospice and Palliative Care. 2. Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.
