The nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care to mentally ill patients on a living unit, guiding lower-level staff on treatment plan adherence and policy compliance. Responsibilities include preparing and administering medication, handling laboratory specimens, preparing patients for diagnostics, providing BLS, and consulting with medical personnel regarding patient care.
Candidates must have graduated from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate, diploma, or bachelor's degree in nursing, and must possess a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois. Employment conditions require the ability to work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays, lift up to 50 pounds, maintain CPR certification, pass CPI training, and physically restrain patients if necessary.

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire an independent, highly organized, and detail-oriented Licensed Registered Nurse for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care for people with mental illness. The successful candidate shall demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of medical personnel.
