The Registered Nurse is responsible for safe and appropriate patient care, providing instruction, direction, and supervision to subordinate unit staff, and serving as a resource for all departments. This includes analyzing data, determining necessary healthcare actions, teaching patients and families, and supervising practice based on nursing care principles.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is a staff nurse responsible for safe and appropriate patient care, for providing instruction, direction and supervision to subordinate unit staff, serving as a resource for all departments.

Work requires thorough and advanced knowledge of the nursing process, patient assessment and nursing standards, knowledge of the California Nursing Practice Act, hospital policies and procedures, intermediate pharmaceutical, math skills and knowledge of management and assignment personnel.

Must possess good verbal and written English communication skills.

Peripheral IV experience and skills required.

Good time management and prioritizing skills.

Computer experience preferred.

Analyzes data, determines time, place and sequence of healthcare or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination and/or reporting on events.

Teaches, instructs patients and families on healthcare subjects, provides explanation.

Demonstration and supervises practice, may make recommendations to physicians or other nursing staff based on nursing care principles to assure optimum patient care.

Use physical strength of hands, fingers, arms, and legs, to move patients or equipment.

Will select appropriate health supplies, medical equipment to assure appropriate medical care.

Will speak to fellow employees, patients, physicians, and families in person and on phone.

Qualifications

Requires current State of California Board of Registered Nursing license Requires current American Heart Association BCLS certification Requires American Heart Association ACLS Requires American Hearth Association PALS (or ENPC) certification Prefer TNCC certification Requires NIHSS Certification Requires Basic Arrhythmia Certificate
