The Hospitalist Physician is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized patients, including diagnosing, treating, and coordinating care. This role involves working closely with specialists and support staff to ensure high-quality care during patients' hospital stays.
Candidates must have a medical degree (MD or DO) and board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Additionally, 2-3 years of experience as a Hospitalist is preferred, along with required certifications and an active Vermont medical license.

A Hospitalist Physician is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized patients. The role includes diagnosing, treating, and coordinating care for patients during their hospital stay, working closely with specialists, nurses, and support staff to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The candidate should have excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate is committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Specialty backup includes surgeons to perform central line insertions, respiratory therapists, Emergency Medicine physicians and CRNAs. Brattleboro Memorial Hospital will consider J1-Visa candidates.
Provide direct care and management for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharges. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Coordinate and collaborate with specialists, primary care physicians, and ancillary services. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory work. Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and thorough manner. Respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative care as needed (e.g., codes, rapid response). Participate in quality improvement initiatives, hospital committees, and performance evaluations. Provide education and guidance to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and care plans. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical ethics, and regulatory standards. No procedures required.' Participate in clinical rounds and meetings with other health care providers.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155 In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
