The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing routine nursing procedures, and conducting patient intake. They also assist with clinical medical procedures and ensure accurate documentation of patient care and medication administration.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Practical Nursing School and hold a valid license or eligibility in DC. At least one year of experience in an ambulatory care setting, particularly with special needs populations, is required.
Under the clinical supervision of the nurse manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is directly responsible for, but is not limited to, carefully and accurately obtaining vital signs and initial patient history, performing routine nursing procedures (i.e. finger stick blood studies, urinalyses, pregnancy tests, and venipuncture, when appropriate), and conducting patient intake.
This position reports to the Nurse Manager for clinical Supervision.
The position abides by all rules and regulations set forth by applicable licensing and regulatory bodies, as well as UHC policies and procedures.
The position requires contact with staff at all levels throughout the organization. There are also external organization relationships that may be a part of the work of this individual.
The incumbent must be able to balance the needs of diverse constituencies on a daily basis.
The position’s work involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other UHC sites. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The employee shall provide evidence of a recent (within the past twelve (12) months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.
