• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in routine nursing situations within the LPN scope of practice.
• Under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed provider, the LPN assists in patient care, treatment, and comfort.
• This role is an integral part of the healthcare team, ensuring quality care in alignment with Emory Healthcare's patient and family-centered care standards.
• Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Clinical Duties 1.
• Provide patient care based on an individualized plan delegated by the Registered Nurse/Physician.
• 2.
• Monitor and document patient conditions, including vital signs, wound care, drains, and lab values.
• 3.
• Assist with medical procedures, treatments, and medication administration as per scope of practice.
• 4.
• Collect and document patient data using specialized equipment as needed (e.g., glucometer, pulse oximeter).
• 5.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment following safety and infection control protocols.
• Communication & Collaboration 1.
• Establish and maintain communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• 2.
• Inform the supervising Registered Nurse/Physician about patient activities, observations, and changes in condition.
• 3.
• Provide patient and family education related to health conditions, treatment plans, and home care.
• Documentation & Compliance 1.
• Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of patient medical records.
• 2.
• Adhere to universal precautions and patient safety standards in all interactions.
• 3.
• Follow Emory Healthcare's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Quality Improvement & Professional Development 1.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices in patient care.
• 2.
• Conduct or assist with in-service training and continuous learning opportunities.
• 3.
• May serve on sectional, departmental, or organizational committees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. raduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Experience - Previous experience preferred but not required. Licensure - A valid, unencumbered license as a Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia Certifications - BLS If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.
