The Special Procedures Technologist (Mammography) provides healthcare services to patients requiring mammography imaging and performs imaging procedures to produce diagnostic images. They also conduct quality control tests and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Candidates must be graduates of an approved Radiologic Technology program and hold a NJ State license and ARRT certification. A minimum of one year of experience as a Mammography Technologist is required, along with knowledge of mammography procedures and related regulations.
The primary purpose of the Special Procedures Technologist (Mammography) is to provide healthcare services to patients requiring mammography imaging. Performs appropriate procedure and related techniques on patients, producing images for the interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures. Responsible for carrying out quality control tests to comply with state and federal requirements. Must be able to perform duties in UH as well as on the Mobile Mammography Van. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
What You’ll Do Provides healthcare services to patients requiring mammography imaging. Performs appropriate imaging procedures and techniques to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Delivers compassionate and appropriate patient care, recognizing conditions essential for successful procedure completion. Conducts quality control tests in compliance with state and federal regulations. Must be able to perform duties both at University Hospital (UH) and on the Mobile Mammography Van. Exercises professional judgment in service delivery, maintaining conduct aligned with medical ethics.
What You’ll Bring Required: Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program. Holds NJ State license and ARRT certification with current active registration. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technologist. Thoroughly experienced and competent in: All aspects of mammography procedures Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements Skilled in compiling accurate statistics and documentation. Strong knowledge of: Radiography Radiology Information Systems (RIS) Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) Must complete annual fit testing. Maintains valid Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
