About the role

The Laboratory Assistant I facilitates research operations by coordinating tasks related to equipment, materials, and laboratory maintenance. They also assist with shipping and receiving, and may prepare media and manage laboratory waste.

Facilitate research operations by coordinating or carrying out tasks related to equipment, materials stocks, facilities, and shipping and receiving Supports shipping and receiving for group or department Assists with the maintenance of laboratory stocks, such as plastic- and glassware May carry out special research operations support such as preparing media May assist financial coordinators on matters related to purchasing, shipping and receiving In wet labs, carries out disinfection and removal of laboratory waste as needed Carries out or oversees cleaning and maintenance of glassware and plasticware stocks Autoclaves laboratory reagents and waste KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The position prefers a high school diploma or GED.

Strong English reading and speaking skills are highly desirable.

Candidates should be capable of handling glassware and using autoclaving equipment.

Prior work experience demonstrating reliability and the required skills is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will report to Research Operations Coordinator or group administrator.

Operates under general supervision with well established guidelines for the majority of duties.

Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $36,500.00 - $43,300.00

Requirements

Candidates are preferred to have a high school diploma or GED, with strong English skills and the ability to handle glassware and autoclaving equipment. Prior work experience demonstrating reliability is preferred.
