Paramedics provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies.
The Paramedic's role is to assess the urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions.
Paramedics are the most highly trained emergency medical responders.
00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.
Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Obtain and record vital signs.
Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
Transport patients and specimens.
Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
Perform fluid/drug administration.
