The technician is responsible for performing proper specimen collection and labeling procedures for routine and special tests, including various types of sample collections like urine and sputum. They must also accession all specimens in the receiving area and ensure timely transport and distribution to the laboratory sections for processing.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and current Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency, along with completion of an approved training course and AHA CPR/BLS certification. A minimum of one year of experience as a patient service technician or phlebotomist within the last three years is required, with preference given to those with 2-3 years of experience in an acute care setting.
