Assists physicians with sophisticated digital radiology procedures, including the placement of pacemakers and catheters. Responsible for operating imaging equipment, maintaining sterile environments, and providing direct patient care such as monitoring vital signs.

Assists with procedures that require the use of highly sophisticated digital Radiology equipment.
Assists with passing instruments, guide wires and catheter, threading catheters over guide wires for placement in the patient.
Operates the image intensifier and in so doing allows the physician to use both hands to place the pacemaker or catheter in the proper place.
Rotates on call as required.
May be required to cover on the Radiology floor as needed.
Must be High School graduate or have a G.E.D; satisfactorily completed a formal radiologic technology training in an A.M.A. approved school and meets requirements for registry by A.R.R.T.
At least one (1) year experience preferred in all phases of special procedures techniques preferred, and possesses capabilities as determined to be adequate by the department head; must have gained such a variety of experience that job knowledge is expressed in work characteristics; must be able to instruct others in the use of this equipment and to assist Senior Special Procedures Technologist in the inservice education of the staff.
Licensure: Must hold a current Connecticut State License in Radiologic Technology
Must be A.R.R.T Registered (R); A.R.R.T. (CV), (CI), (VI), (RCIS) certification based on specialty preferred or obtained within 18 months of hire. ACLS Certification.
