This role involves assisting in planning and organizing activities for all residents to encourage psycho-social interaction and implementing individual interventions as directed by the Activity Director according to the resident's care plan. Responsibilities also include completing necessary documentation, running daily activity programs, assisting residents with various needs, and maintaining department standards.
Candidates must possess a genuine interest in geriatrics and ensuring quality activities for residents, along with the ability to adapt to frequent changes in routine. The role requires physical capability, including lifting up to 25 lbs and transferring residents for outings, while working primarily on foot in a nursing home environment.
Assists with planning and organizing activities for all residents and assists in the maintenance of the Activities Department. Principal
Performs the following duties listed and others as required to assure quality of life for the residents. This list does not include all duties required but to serve as a basis of expectations. Duties and responsibilities may be added or modified at any time. Through planned activities programs and other interventions will encourage residents to achieve their highest level of psycho social interaction. Under direction of the Activity Director will implement individual interventions as outlined in the residents plan of care. Completes assigned residents activity assessments, care plans, discharge surveys, documentation and other record keeping tasks under the direct supervision of the Activity Director. Run daily activity programs, transporting residents to and from the activity. Assist resident with voting. Deliver monthly Newsletter and calendars to resident rooms. Chart in POC, send alerts and chart in Behavior Log. Reports to the Activity Director when needed. Completes Inservices and continued education programs when assigned. Assists in resident dining, lunch and dinner meals. In-service family members and volunteers how to safely use the van. Assist residents in facility van to Doctor's appointments. Responsible for making signs, brochures, newsletters, thank you notes and other computer projects. Decorate for the Holidays. Plan crafts residents can assist with, buy or order supplies as needed. Under the direct supervision of the Activity Director. Check e-mails daily. Feed fish as needed and document. Responsible for maintaining established activity standards and policies of the facility. Responsible for meeting Federal and State requirements under direct supervision of the Activity Director. Responsible to keep the working area clean, orderly, safe and in good working order. Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunction to Director. Performs other duties as required by the Activity Director. Working Conditions: Nursing home setting. Lifting up to 25 lbs. when needed and have the ability to transfer residents on outings. Work in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated area. On feet most of the day. Working with residents throughout the day. Occasional field trips in and out of doors.
