The Physician Assistant will manage day-to-day clinical operational activities at the PepsiCo Las Vegas plant, providing on-site services including triage, treatment of minor injuries/illnesses, lab collection, and health education seminars.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree, certification by the NCCPA or similar body, completion of a CAAHEP-certified Physician Assistant program, state licensure, National Board Certification, and BLS certification. Preferred qualifications include experience in Occupational Medicine and DOT exams.
The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant to manage the day-to-day clinical operational activities at the PepsiCo Las Vegas plant. The position reports directly to the Central/MidWest Regional Coordinator for the PepsiCo/JHU partnership. The position also works closely with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and Assistant Director of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the PepsiCo clinic in Las Vegas. Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. Dispense over the counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work-related concerns (for example, back pain, headache, and pharyngitis). Provide on-site specimen/lab collection (venipuncture) for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP. Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with company protocol. Provide on-site assessments for acute and chronic illnesses, such as strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia. Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work-related conditions to reduce illness and absenteeism. Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers' compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols. Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program. Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminars and general wellness events. Provide referrals for PepsiCo employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence to company protocols. Perform on-site physical assessments (DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required by PepsiCo. Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses, medications, treatments, etc. Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems.
Administrative services provided to PepsiCo include Maintain and revise, as needed, standardized procedures, protocols, and standing orders. Maintain adequate clinical supplies. Maintain Letter of Permit Exception with the Nevada Department of Health/CLIA required for lab testing provided on-site. Maintain patient electronic medical records.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Analytical ability is necessary to evaluate and determine the health status of the patient and implement proper care. Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, and counsel patients and interact with clients/employers. A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures is necessary. Must have general computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized medical information systems.
