The Resource Nurse acts as the immediate, first-line clinical resource for staff on a designated unit and shift, modeling proficiency in clinical skills appropriate to the operating room area. Full time - 40 hours per week - Varied shifts
SNHMC has nine operating room suites, 25 pre-op/PACU bays, and a sterile processing department.
Hours are flexible, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour day shifts available.
The OR has a dedicated call team Sunday through Thursday nights beginning at 7PM, making OR call minimal.
Services range from elective and non-elective procedures, including neurological, orthopedic, gynecological, urological, bariatric, colorectal, vascular, ENT, general, breast, and plastics.
Surgical services are growing and evolving, utilizing the latest technology for the wide variety of procedures we perform.
The OR also offers Periop-101 and advancements.
As a member of the Surgical Services team, the Resource Nurse directly oversees and serves as an immediate, first line clinical resource to staff on a designated unit and shift. Within this role, the RN models proficiency in clinical skills appropriate to the clinical area. In addition, the Resource Nurse is an effective communicator, promotes teamwork and collaboration and coaches staff in the processes of critical thinking and clinical decision making. The Resource RN works under the supervision of the Clinical Manager and is accountable to the Director of Perioperative Services.
Communicate effectively in a mature and respectful manner with employees, patients/family members and other healthcare disciplines to promote a positive work environment.
Serve as a resource to staff for clinical issues.
Collaborate with unit leadership in the development of integrated approaches to patient care.
Role model expected behaviors and skills; coach and mentor staff on assigned shift.
Manage shift flow for patient care, staffing and general operations.
Provide oversight of staff during assigned shift.
Manage/redirect issues and concerns within a timely manner using appropriate resources and chain of command.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. BSN or matriculated in a BSN program.
Active NH license as a Registered Nurse. Board certification in specialty within 2 years of hire.
Minimum of two years current experience in specialty.
Ability to: Manage a complex, high stress work environment.
Ability to: Respond appropriately to emergencies.
