The LPN coordinates interdisciplinary patient care by performing clinical screenings, administering medications, and assisting physicians during examinations. They are also responsible for managing patient charts, scheduling tests, and coordinating referrals and pre-authorizations.

The Medical Assistant supports the educational, clinical, and patient care missions of the Internal Medicine Residency Program by ensuring the efficient flow of patients throughout the ambulatory care setting. Working collaboratively with resident physicians, attending physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, the Medical Assistant facilitates patient examinations and treatments in a culturally sensitive manner while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include preparing patients for visits, obtaining and documenting vital signs and clinical information, assisting with limited clinical procedures, coordinating diagnostic tests and specialty referrals, maintaining accurate patient records, preparing and organizing examination rooms, managing clinical supplies and equipment, and supporting resident and faculty physicians in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The Medical Assistant contributes to a positive learning environment while promoting continuity of care, patient safety, and operational efficiency within the residency clinic.
