The Anesthetist responds to patient anesthetic needs across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases, administering anesthesia services under medical direction. Key duties include formulating anesthetic plans with an anesthesiologist, performing special line placement procedures, and maintaining age-specific competence in technical anesthesia skills.
A Master's Degree in Nurse Anesthesia is generally required, though CRNAs who graduated before December 31, 2003, from an accredited program may be accepted in lieu of the degree. Applicants must possess an SC RN license and CRNA certification, with no previous experience explicitly required.
