About the role

The role involves joining an experienced headache team to provide comprehensive care in an outpatient setting, collaborating with fellowship-trained physicians and a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include providing patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive strategies.

Overview Dartmouth Health Cheshire Medical Center seeks a collaborative, clinically credible physician leader to serve as Chief of Anesthesiology.

This leader will advance Anesthesiology Services at Cheshire Medical Center, strengthening safe, high-quality perioperative and procedural care for the Monadnock Region while aligning closely with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Anesthesiology and the broader resources of Dartmouth Health.

Cheshire Medical Center, a nonprofit community medical center in Keene, New Hampshire, is a member of Dartmouth Health, the state’s only academic health system.

As Cheshire County’s only hospital and a major care hub for the Monadnock Region, Cheshire provides broad primary, specialty, surgical, emergency, inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, population health, and chronic disease management services.

Anesthesiology Services at Cheshire provide local access to anesthesia care for surgery, endoscopy, obstetrics, pain-related procedures, ambulatory care, and other procedural services, working closely with surgeons, proceduralists, CRNAs, nursing, pre-surgical testing, PACU, inpatient teams, and Dartmouth Health colleagues to support safe, efficient care across the perioperative continuum.

Within a triad leadership model, the Chief of Anesthesiology will provide physician leadership for clinical quality, patient safety, access, coverage, care coordination, provider engagement, operational performance, patient and surgeon experience, and alignment with Dartmouth Health standards and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Anesthesiology priorities.

The successful candidate will be a visible, approachable, team-oriented physician leader who maintains an active clinical presence and earns credibility with physicians, CRNAs, staff, patients, and system partners.

This individual will promote accountability, collaboration, quality, service, and continuous improvement while strengthening anesthesia coverage, OR and procedural throughput, recruitment and retention, perioperative optimization, and access to both local expertise and Dartmouth Health’s advanced specialty resources.

Qualified candidates will possess an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school, completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency and board certification.

The ideal candidate will bring clinical excellence, sound judgment, operational discipline, strong communication skills, and commitment to community-based anesthesiology within an integrated academic health system.

All applications, nominations, and inquiries are invited.
