Job Description

The purpose of the Infusion RN is to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The Infusion RN will also administer care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients, as well as advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Establish intravenous access via IV and port.
  • Administer medications including chemotherapy, to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Administer medications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and/or changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
  • Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
  • Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
  • Comply with all appropriate and necessary safety and confidentiality regulations.
  • Evaluate needs of patients and family and provide patient/family education.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Key Competencies
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of infusion practices and treatments.
  • Ability to recognize and manage infusion reactions
  • Knowledge of or motivation to learn about current developments in cancer diagnosis and therapy.
  • Ability or motivation to learn how to administer chemotherapy and other treatment therapies.
  • Ability to care for patients with chronic and debilitating diseases.
  • Ability to empathize with patients/families and deal with grief and challenging patient interactions.
  • Ability to function independently, possess excellent time management, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with health care team to make personalized treatment plan for each patient

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in nursing required, Bachelor’s preferred.
  • (1) year experience in Nursing required.
  • California RN license required.
  • BLS and/or ACLS certifications required.

Additional Requirements

  • Great Customer Service Skills.
  • Previous experience with OncoEMR preferred.
  • Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel between office locations as needed.

Pay Range: $55-65/hr
