The Physician will provide advanced primary care in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based medical care and integrated behavioral health. Responsibilities include exercising independent medical judgment in patient care, maintaining clear clinical documentation, participating in quality improvement activities, and adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.
Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and have successfully completed a credentialed primary care residency program, along with active board certification in a primary care specialty. Licensure in Kansas and Missouri (or ability to obtain by start date), DEA registration, and BLS certification are mandatory requirements for this role.

Summary: The Primary Care Physician provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult and/or family medicine patients in a collaborative care center setting. This role emphasizes preventive care, chronic condition management, and whole-person health—without productivity quotas tied to volume. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality primary care services, including preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions Build trusted, long-term relationships with patients through longer appointment times Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team (nurses, care guides, behavioral health, pharmacists) Utilize data and evidence-based guidelines to improve outcomes and patient experience Participate in care coordination, population health initiatives, and quality improvement efforts Document care accurately and efficiently using the electronic health record (EHR) Support Spira Care’s mission, values, and patient-first culture
MD or DO from an accredited medical school Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Active or eligible for medical licensure in Missouri and/or Kansas DEA license (or ability to obtain) BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Maintain licensures and certifications throughout employment.
