About the role

The Therapist provides therapeutic services for adults and children with substance use disorders, which includes conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and developing diagnostic impressions. Responsibilities also involve providing individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based models and coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Therapist provides therapeutic services for Adults and Children diagnosed with substance used disorder. The role includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, providing individual and family therapy, and coordinating supportive substance use & mental health services. The therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure adults, children and families receive high‑quality, timely, and evidence‑based care. BJK PHC Behavioral Health offers therapy specifically designed to help adults, children and families struggling with addiciton.

Primary duties and responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of adult & children’s substance use, mental health, trauma, social, family, and developmental history.

Develop diagnostic impressions and provide treatment recommendations.

Provide individual, family, and group therapy using approved curricula and evidence‑based treatment models.

Create and maintain individualized treatment plans in accordance with program and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team—including case managers, psychiatrists, and support specialists—to ensure coordinated care.

Provide crisis intervention when necessary as BJK PHC Behavioral Health offers walk‑in and phone crisis intervention services.

Maintain timely documentation that meets corporate, legal, and compliance requirements.

Participate in case consultations, clinical meetings, trainings, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Serve as a resource for families and community partners regarding child mental health needs.

Assist adults, youth and families in accessing internal and external support services including community integration, stabilization, and supportive consultation (consistent with community behavioral health service structure).

Required skills

Knowledge of stages of change, motivational interviewing, trauma‑informed care, and evidence‑based therapeutic approaches.

Strong skills in active listening, assessment, relapse prevention, and treatment planning (consistent with clinical requirements in similar roles)

Ability to build rapport with adults, children and families from diverse backgrounds.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organization, documentation, and time‑management abilities.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. (BJK PHC Behavioral Health listings require master’s-level clinicians for assessment and therapy roles.
  • At least 1–2 years of clinical experience working with children or youth in a mental health setting.
  • Licensed or provisionally licensed preferred (LPC, PLPC, LCSW, LMSW).
  • Experience in community mental health strongly preferred.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a behavioral health field such as Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, along with 1-2 years of clinical experience working with children or youth in a mental health setting. Licensure (LPC, LCSW, etc.) or provisional licensure is preferred, as is experience in community mental health.
