Nurses integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to provide direct, age-specific care, accurately documenting treatments and safely administering prescribed medications while assisting the healthcare team with patient wellness and comfort. Responsibilities progress through three clinical levels, involving direction, education, and assuming leadership roles at the unit level, including organizing work and supervising other staff members.
Candidates must possess current RN licensure in Virginia or a compact state, along with AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent for continued employment. Educational requirements mandate a Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing, with a requirement to enroll in an RN to BSN program within two years and complete it within five years if a Bachelor's degree is not already held.
