Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team in a Ward Technician role.
Compensation
$25–$30/hour based on experience and skills assessment leveling
As a Veterinary Technician on our Ward team, you’ll work closely with our doctors and clinical teams to provide exceptional nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys inpatient care, patient monitoring, treatment execution, and collaborating in a fast-paced specialty and emergency setting.
Responsibilities
Provide treatments and nursing care for hospitalized patients and pre- and post-operative cases
Monitor surgery recovery patients and accurately document patient status in the medical record
Partner with DVMs on patient assessments, diagnostics, treatment plans, and procedures

Prepare patients for surgery, administer pre-medications, place IV catheters, collect lab samples, and obtain radiographs
Assist with patient stabilization including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid administration, and CPR as needed
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Discharge patients with clear client education including home care instructions, medications, and monitoring recommendations
Communicate effectively with doctors and nursing teams regarding treatment plans and patient care concerns
Perform technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, and safe patient restraint
Maintain hospital safety standards and compliance with OSHA protocols
Qualifications
CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred, but not required
Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting preferred
Recent graduates of an accredited Veterinary Technology program are encouraged to apply
Strong technical nursing skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Positive attitude with a collaborative, patient-focused approach to care
Ability to take initiative and contribute to daily hospital operations
Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
