The specialist will use relevant personal stories to teach through experience and serve as a role model for clients receiving mental health services. They must encourage client voice and choice in treatment planning and empower clients to become self-advocates.
Candidates must be between eighteen and thirty-five years old and must have received or currently be receiving services from a youth-serving agency or state-funded service related to emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disabilities. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with KFLA training and demonstrated leadership and advocacy in behavioral health.
