Conducts comprehensive initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations to assess patient needs and monitor progress. Interprets clinical data to determine appropriate management and treatment strategies. Orders and evaluates diagnostic/laboratory tests, ensuring appropriate follow-up when abnormal results are identified. Facilitates referrals to higher levels of care for complex medical concerns beyond the outpatient scope. Develops and implements individualized patient management plans, ensuring continuity of care through detailed progress documentation. Prescribes and monitors medications for psychiatric conditions, evaluating efficacy and managing potential side effects. Provides comprehensive education on diagnosis, treatment options, medication risks, benefits, and alternatives to support informed decision-making. Identifies acute psychiatric crises and coordinates immediate intervention, including referrals to specialized crisis services. Collaborates with medical staff and clinical teams to uphold quality standards and effective care coordination. Coordinates with primary care providers and external healthcare teams to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes. Participates in peer review processes to ensure clinical excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.

Attained a Master’s Degree from an accredited nursing program Must know all aspects of the trade as it is performed in the organization, sufficient to effectively train or instruct others, and to serve as a resource to employees.

  • Certifications: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP- BC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMH-NP) with a valid Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) License in the state of West Virginia, and a valid state-issued driver’s license are required.

Requirements
