The Polysomnography Technician performs sleep studies and provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. They are responsible for setting up equipment, monitoring patients, and documenting results.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and complete an accredited sleep technology program. Certification by a recognized board and current BLS certification are also required.
Required Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED. Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to certificate of associate degree with an emphasis on sleep technology OR Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited education facility or equivalent education and documented proficiency for all competencies required for a sleep technician AND Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds an RPSGT OR CPSGT credential by the BRPT is required. Current BLS certification or to be completed within three months of employment. Preferred Education and Experience: One year of EEG, EKG, or electro diagnostic monitoring experience preferred.
