The kennel technician is primarily responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of hospitalized patients and boarding facility clients. Duties also include restocking supplies, assisting with post-operative patients, and helping doctors with restraint and exams.
Candidates must possess knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods along with proper animal restraint techniques, and be able to perform moderately heavy physical labor. The role requires the ability to handle sick or injured animals patiently and learn medication administration and condition recognition.
