The Certified Medical Assistant delivers direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the established plan of care, operating under the direction of a physician. This role involves functioning under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN while providing patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving.
Required qualifications include current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent, along with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience requirements vary: one year of experience is needed if not a graduate of a medical assistant program, but no experience is required for program graduates.
