The Adult Intensive Care/Progressive Care Unit is a mixed specialty unit with a variety of cardiac and medical critically ill patients. The nurses on this unit create, nurture, and sustain a healthy work environment with a focus on the patient. Our team members take ownership of decisions in which top quality outcomes are achieved. On this 12-bed unit, nurses primarily care for respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, and shock, DKA, heart failure, renal failure, STEMIs, and strokes. As a Registered Nurse you will work in collaboration with both our intensivists and hospitalist team, PT/OT, case management, patient/family liaison, and multiple other disciplines to ensure our patients are receiving excellent care. Critical care assessment skills Training for IABP, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management Assist with bedside procedures, such as central line and arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, intubation, chest tube insertion, and thoracentesis Fostering support for patients and families during critical illness Unit Successes/Designations: Multiple DAISY Award nominees and 2 winners in 2023 5 Years CLABSI free in November 2023 Unit Culture Highlights: Creates an environment for learning by encouraging questions and growth Fosters an inclusive environment, with compassion for our team and patients, to provide excellence in care Active and involved Professional Governance at a unit and house wide level

Qualifications

Must Have - One Year of Current Critical Care Experience (ICU) Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Education

The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.

Exceptions

  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Requirements

Candidates must have at least one year of current critical care experience and an active RN license in Indiana. An ASN is required, with a BSN preferred, and candidates must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
