The Medical Assistant performs patient care under direct physician or nurse supervision, including preparing patients, administering tests, and recording diagnostic laboratory results. Key duties involve collaborating with the healthcare team, performing vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with special procedures.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with completion of a Medical Assistant training program, or 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Certified Nursing Attendant. Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program is also an acceptable qualification.
