Medical Assistants are integral to the clinic/hospital, assisting Providers with medical treatment of patients following a patient-centered philosophy and managing daily clinic functions. General Description

Our MA's are integral to our clinic/hospital and are responsible for assisting Providers with medical treatment of patients within a patient-centered philosophy. The MA assists with daily functions of the Clinic.

  • Essential Job Duties
  • Take vital signs
  • Answer and triage phone calls from patients
  • Documentation in EHR, past medical history, social history, surgery history, immunizations, and update medications
  • Prepare patient for exam
  • Administer medication/injection, maintain patient’s confidentiality
  • E-scribe prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Assist providers as needed
  • Maintenance of equipment and making recommendations for medical equipment as needed to Supervisor
  • Update ordering list with any needed supplies and medications
  • Oversee inventory of medical supplies and equipment
  • Assist in chart documentation for quality purposed to ensure that provider coding and documentation matching
  • Conduct In-House back office procedure lab tests/Nurse visits when appropriate (Sofia, Glucose, INR and UA dips.)
  • Conduct quality control checks of machines and kits as directed
  • Serve as liaison between Provider and other hospital departments as necessary
  • Verify lab orders/ requisitions
  • Clean and restock of patient rooms throughout the day
  • Open tickets for Information Assistance
  • Open and close the clinic Office as necessary
  • Assist with administrative assignments as needed
  • Other (Non-Essential) Job Duties
  • Other duties as directed by Clinic Supervisors, or Clinic Administrators

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant the intent to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain accurate records with attention to detail
  • Function in a team environment with courteous, compassionate and respectful treatment of patients and other team members
  • Good organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of recent experience working in a providers office

  • Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for most of the workday; heavy lifting, must be able to lift packages up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment

Requirements

Candidates must intend to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 90 days of hire, possessing strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping. Preferred qualification includes 6 months to 1 year of recent experience in a provider's office, and the role requires physical stamina for frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
