require an Associate’s degree in Histology or a High School diploma/equivalent with at least one year of histology experience, along with a NYS Histotechnician license. Preferred qualifications include additional histology and Immunohistochemistry experience, and ASCP certifications.
Market context
In New York, histotechnician openings are typically tied to hospitals, pathology labs, and diagnostic settings that need reliable tissue processing and slide preparation. This role is competitive because employers often want both formal histology training and New York licensure or eligibility, which narrows the candidate pool. Review the license pathway and confirm your certificate program matches NYS-recognized requirements before applying; job requirements and benefits on this platform are AI-summarized from the original job description, saving you research time.
