About the role

The GI & Special Procedures Technician supports safe patient care during procedures such as endoscopy, dental, and oncology cases under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. This role involves setting up necessary equipment and supplies prior to the case, primarily supporting GI endoscopy but potentially assisting with other non-surgical cases.

At Children's Wisconsin, every procedure supports something bigger - helping kids heal, grow and get back to being kids.

We are seeking a highly skilled GI & Special Procedures Technician who is ready to bring their expertise, precision and teamwork to a fast-paced pediatric environment.

You will under general supervision from a registered nurse and/or provider, the GI/special procedures technician supports best and safest patient care including but not limited to endoscopy, dental, and oncology cases. Sets up equipment and supplies prior to case, carefully reviews preference cards and case notes to ensure accuracy. This team member will primarily support GI endoscopy cases but may be required to assist with additional non-surgical cases.

This position requires

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of one year of advanced hospital-based endoscopic experience including ERCP and EUS cases.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association.

GI Tech certification preferred.

Hours

Four 10-hour days 6:50am-5:20pm.

Weekday, weekend, and Holiday call for the GI specialty; requires a 30 minute response time.

Certifications/Licenses

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council, GI Tech Certificate of Completion - American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), GI Technical Specialist Certificate (GTS) - Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA)

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of advanced hospital-based endoscopic experience that includes ERCP and EUS cases. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory, and GI Tech certification is preferred.
