The Medical Assistant will provide direct and indirect care to patients at the Duke Triangle Heart Associates Clinic, performing tasks such as patient intake, vital signs collection, and heart monitor placement. Duties also include performing phlebotomy, EKGs, assisting staff in emergencies, and handling diagnostic preparations like starting IVs.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and required certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA, along with BLS certification. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred, and Level II requires one year of clinical experience.
Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, medication review, learning assessment and other clinical information as indicated Placement of heart monitors – event and holters – Prepare packets, download monitors, verify and correct order per protocol Phlebotomy, perform EKG, Muse, gajema, assist staff in emergency situations, assist in clerical area Participates in performance improvement projects Attain prior authorizations for medications Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead. Reminder calls, confirm appoints, no show list Stock rooms, clean rooms, equipment, patient areas Diagnostics – prep patients, start IV
