Work Shift Night (United States of America) Job Summary: The Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist I is responsible for performing Electroencephalograms (EEGs) and/or Evoked Potentials (EPs) studies in the Laboratory and at the bedside of patients. Also, performs video/EEG monitoring, routine topographic brain mapping studies, and ambulatory monitoring, etc. Video Long Term Monitoring (LTM) experience. Is qualified to provide a descriptive analysis of the waveforms and patterns relevant to their credential, however, is not responsible for interpretation or clinical correlation of the data Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Sets up and performs test procedures with little to no supervision. Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and eliminations. Understands and follows concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the EEG unit. Has knowledge of alternate montages, protocols, and alternate equipment settings and their effects should be applied. Can use photic stimulation and hyperventilation appropriately. Understands why and how to repair or fill bad electrodes. Removes electrodes and cleans up the patient after the EEG done to practice protocols and safety standards.
Familiar with the protocols for completion of the technical EEG report, charging procedures, and logging the patient into files.
Knowledgeable in correct EEG performance and recognition of clinically significant events and intervenes if appropriate.
Maintains the patients safety through communication to other patient care support staff during the EEG if needed
Contacts higher level staff as appropriate for problems within the EEG unit.
Stocks supplies and prepares patient rooms for EEG procedures.
Performs any other related duties that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level. Communication
Calls the Bio-med department with any equipment problems and maintenance issues.
Communicates with the physicians regarding the EEG study results General requirements
