The role involves assisting providers by performing various patient care duties, including escorting patients, documenting vital signs and medical history, and preparing exam rooms with necessary equipment. Responsibilities also include performing basic lab/diagnostic tests, documenting critical values, and assisting with patient scheduling and charge submission within the electronic health record.
Candidates must be a graduate of an approved school for medical assistants and be credentialed (CMA, RMA, NCMA) for the Medical Assistant track, or be a graduate of a school of nursing with a current Iowa LPN or RN license for the LPN track. A Minnesota license may be required based on departmental needs.
Medical Assistant: Graduate of an approved school for medical assistant required; Credentialed as a medical assistant is required. (CMA, RMA, NCMA) LPN: Graduate of a school of nursing is required. A current Iowa License as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is required. A current Minnesota License as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse may be required based on Department needs. Minnesota license must be current before working in a Minnesota location.
