About the role

The Physical Therapist will evaluate patients' motor function, strength, and mobility to develop individualized treatment plans, providing hands-on therapy to enhance movement and functional ability in a hospital-based rehabilitation setting. Located at 9525 Greenville Ave, Nexus Children’s Hospital – Dallas provides post-acute pediatric care for children with complex medical, neurological, and behavioral conditions. This campus includes the Harbor, New Directions, and Rise programs, specialized Nexus programs designed to support children with developmental disabilities, neurological injuries, behavioral challenges, and long-term medical needs.

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist (PT) provides specialized therapy services to children with neurological, developmental, and medically complex conditions in a hospital-based rehabilitation setting. In this role, you will evaluate motor function, develop individualized treatment plans, and work closely with an interdisciplinary team to help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, and overall independence.

This position is ideal for therapists who enjoy meaningful, hands-on work and want to be part of a collaborative team focused on long-term patient outcomes.

  • What you’ll do
  • Evaluate patients’ strength, mobility, balance, and motor skills to create individualized therapy plans
  • Provide hands-on therapy to help children improve movement, independence, and functional ability
  • Use adaptive equipment, therapeutic techniques, and evidence-based interventions to support progress
  • Work closely with other clinical professionals, as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Support patients with neurological, developmental, and behavioral challenges using safe, trauma-informed approaches
  • Educate families and caregivers on exercises and strategies to continue progress outside therapy sessions
  • Track patient progress and complete documentation in the medical record
  • Participate in team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement activities
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and structured therapy environment for every patient

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy required (DPT preferred)
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Experience in pediatrics, neurology, or rehabilitation strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working with medically complex and behaviorally challenged pediatric patients
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary hospital environment
  • Licensures / Certifications
  • Current Texas license as a Physical Therapist
  • Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain before hire)
  • De-escalation / behavioral training required within 30 days of hire
