The Surgical Technician assists surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, which includes conveying sterile instruments and supplies for basic to complex operations. They must adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and maintain patient safety.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or clinical-based program, requiring knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sterile technique, and medical terminology. A minimum of six months of operating room or ambulatory surgery unit experience is necessary, with BLS certification required within 14 days of hire.
