We are currently seeking compassionate and motivated individuals to join our team as Behavior Technicians (BT) at Mountain Shadows New Beginnings, our innovative adult therapeutic day program in San Marcos. As a Behavior Technician, you will play a key role in supporting individuals with behavioral needs while helping them develop vocational skills, build social connections, and participate in community activities.

About the Position

Position Summary

The Behavior Technician (BT) role at Mountain Shadows New Beginnings is ideal for individuals who are already Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or those with experience providing behavioral support who are looking for a stable, weekday schedule. We offer a supportive environment with comprehensive training—and if you’re not already an RBT, we’ll help you complete the certification process within six months of hire.

As a BT, you will work directly with assigned clients at our site-based program, providing supervision, behavioral support, personal care, and engaging training opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment. No travel or use of a personal vehicle is required!

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and behavioral support to individuals in a structured therapeutic day program.
  • Implement individualized behavior support strategies under the guidance of the Program Director and Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Assist clients in developing vocational and independent living skills.
  • Facilitate meaningful social, recreational, and community integration activities.
  • Provide personal care assistance as needed, including hygiene and self-care tasks.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that enhances client growth and independence.
  • Accurately document client activities, behaviors, and progress according to program protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned to support program goals and client success.

Work Schedule

Full-time

Monday through

Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 6 months of experience in behavioral support. Applicants must be willing to obtain RBT certification within six months of hire and pass background and health screenings.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid California Driver's License with at least 3 years of satisfactory driving history.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working with individuals with behavioral support needs.
  • Current Pro-Act Certification preferred—or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire (we offer this training).

  • Ability to obtain criminal background clearance through the Department of Justice.
