Veterinary Assistants will prepare exam rooms, assist doctors during appointments, take client histories, perform physical assessments, and educate clients on preventative healthcare. Key duties also include performing venipuncture, running in-house lab tests, monitoring hospitalized patients, and managing admission/discharge protocols.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and ideally have previous experience in a veterinary hospital setting, along with knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology. Essential requirements include the ability to safely handle and restrain animals, lift up to 50 pounds, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and maintain strong organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment.
