About the role

The monitor technician is responsible for observing, interpreting, and documenting cardiac rhythms for patients. They also collaborate with the multidisciplinary medical team to provide appropriate care and serve as a resource for monitoring equipment.

Position Summary

Observes, interprets and documents cardiac rhythms. Complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital, collaborating with the medical staff when performing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. Serves as a resource to nursing staff in use of monitor equipment. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience): High School Diploma or equivalent Current BLS Certification Basic arrhythmia course Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition Ability to work effectively in fast paced, stressful environment

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a current BLS certification. Additionally, completion of a basic arrhythmia course and effective communication skills are required.
